During the upcoming July 4th holiday, there are two major events that will affect traffic flow in the City of Janesville. Motorists should be aware of the possibility for traffic delays during these events. 

On Friday July 4th, 2014, Traxler Park will be the site of Independence Day on the Rock, hosted by the Rock Aqua Jays. Beginning at 8:00 p.m. the entire Memorial Avenue bridge and all ramps will be closed to traffic. Additionally, N. Franklin St between Mineral Point and Highland will be closed at 8:00 p.m. for the fireworks display. Also note that the bicycle trail will be closed from Mineral Point/Franklin to the area just north of the Memorial bridge. The fireworks have been scheduled for approximately 9:30 p.m. Upon the conclusion of the fireworks, motorists should expect delays leaving Traxler Park. Motorists heading south on N. Main St. will not be able to turn east (or left) to E. Centerway. Motorist heading south on N. Parker Dr. will not be able to turn west (or right) to E. Centerway. 

On Sunday July 6th, 2014 Traxler Park will be the site of the annual Rock, Roll and Run Triathlon. All roads will remain open to traffic during the event, however traffic will be stopped for certain periods along the route to protect the participants. The event begins at 7:00 a.m. and concludes at approximately 11:00 a.m. The bicycle portion of the event will go from Traxler Park and will follow Main St., Centerway, N. Franklin St., Mineral Point Rd. then out into the county. The riders will return on the same route. The run portion will leave Traxler Park, and will follow Main St., E. Holmes, Sinclair St., E. Van Buren St., Wisconsin St., Prospect Ave, Cornelia St., Pease Ct., and then Main St. back to the park.
