“Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) reports more<\/span>
than 40 separate outages affecting about 3,400 electric customers as of<\/span>
5:30 a.m.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>

Areas of our service territory with the most damage and impacted customers<\/span>
are:<\/span><\/p>\n


\u00a0 \u00a0The West Towne area;<\/span>
\u00a0 \u00a0The Schroeder Rd. area; and<\/span>
\u00a0 \u00a0The Isthmus area<\/span>

The majority of outages are the result of heavy winds and lightning. <\/span><\/p>\n

MGE\u00a0<\/span>will assemble crews and begin damage assessment at daybreak.<\/span>

Due to the number of incidents and the size of the overall outage, MGE has<\/span>
suspended its estimated time of restoration feature on its online outage<\/span>
map at\u00a0<\/span>mge.com\/outage<\/a>\u00a0<\/a>until damage assessment is completed later this<\/span>
morning.<\/span>

Customers who have not yet reported a loss of power should call MGE at<\/span>
252-7111 to report an outage.<\/span>

Never approach a downed power line or anything that comes in contact with<\/span>
it. Always presume a power line is energized and extremely dangerous.<\/span>
Report downed lines at 252-7111.<\/span>

The storms also resulted in some damage to MGE’s gas system in the Verona<\/span>
area. \u00a0If you smell a strong, persistent natural gas odor, do not touch<\/span>
anything electrical and leave the home or building immediately. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Call MGE\u00a0<\/span>from somewhere else, away from the gas odor at 252-1111.<\/span>
