SHERIFF’S SPECIAL NEWS RELEASE<\/b><\/p>\n

Throughout the night, emergency services have been responding to reports of damage throughout the county from two successive storms that passed through. \u00a0 Calls began shortly before 1:00 AM of damage in the northwestern areas of the county, of power lines and twisted trees. \u00a0There were several homes in the vicinity of Hay Hollow & York Center Road reporting roof damage, and one with the windows blown out. \u00a0Also, a barn was down on Legler Valley Road.<\/p>\n
A second storm, shortly before 5:00 AM, produced similar damage, primarily to the south and southeastern areas of the county. \u00a0Numerous calls of roads blocked by trees and downed power lines were received, a large shed was blown down on Preston Road, and a barn collapsed on Giese Road.<\/p>\n
There have been no reports of any death or injuries related to the storms, and it has not been confirmed that a tornado was responsible for either event. \u00a0Currently, Alliant Energy estimates there are approximately 1000 residents in Green County without power.<\/p>\n
County Highway and Town crews are out clearing roads. \u00a0Residents are urged to be patient as the damage was significant and widespread. If downed power lines are encountered, they should be considered live and no attempt made to approach them. Currently we are responding to numerous calls and making an assessment of damages. Once obtained, a follow-up news release will be made.<\/p>\n
