Weekend Traffic Notes

Good Morning,

Pat is out on vacation today so Travis & Bonnie are handling traffic.  Here’s some noteworthy traffic events to pass along:

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation tells us that law enforcement will be out in force this weekend, watching for drunk drivers.  Please celebrate safely and if you have had too much to drink, don’t drive.

Looking ahead to more road construction next week, Highway 19 will be closed between Highway 12 and K from 7:30am ‘til 3pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for culvert replacements.

If you see anything on the roads this morning or afternoon, don’t forget to safely share it with us on twitter @madisontraffic, have a great day and great weekend!

Initial Verona Road bridge inspection set for Friday, Dec. 19

On Friday morning (Dec. 19), maintenance crews will complete an initial routine inspection of the new Verona Road (US 18/151) bridges over the frontage road system, just south of the Atticus Way intersection.

What does this mean to you?

  • Starting at 8:15 a.m. Friday, the roundabout portion of the frontage road system will be CLOSED to vehicles until 12:45 p.m. Friday.
    • NOTE: There will be no impacts to Verona Road traffic, only the frontage roads.
  • For everyone’s safety, frontage road traffic will NOT be allowed to travel under Verona Road using the roundabout. The sidewalks will remain open for pedestrians and bicyclists.
  • Access will remain open to area businesses and neighborhoods.
  • Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, including the Freeport Connection (see map).
  • Madison Metro bus routes may change slightly. View their routes/schedules.

This work is weather dependent, and may be postponed to Monday, December 22.

Stay informed and involved with the Verona Road Project website and project Facebook page.

REMINDER: Today is my last day doing traffic.

It’s a super-sad day for me,  I am totally bummed….I love my job and the people I get to interact with everyday.   At the same time,  I’m excited for new adventures.  I start a new job working near Capitol Square on Monday, Nov 17.

There will be various people filling this role for the next few weeks and traffic issues will still be updated on Twitter @madisontraffic.  I have no reason to take my Twitter account with me,  so I’m leaving it with my replacement(s).  🙂

Hopefully in the next few weeks,  a permanent replacement will be hired.   Please be patient with this process.

REMINDER: For up-to-the-minute live traffic updates, @madisontraffic on Twitter.

If you have a Twitter account,  you should follow @madisontraffic for up-to- the-minute live traffic updates in your feed.

Roads are slippery in spots in this morning,  and conditions will deteriorate throughout the morning.
