DANE CO STATEMENT ON WEDS AM STORMS:

“County Exeutive Joe Parisi and Dane County Emergency Management Director Charles Tubbs met with a representative of the National Weather Service in Sun Prairie mid-day today.    The National Weather Service reports this morning’s storm damage in the area was likely caused by “microburst” severe thunderstorm winds that may have at times exceeded 80 miles an hour.  The National Weather Service does not believe today’s damage was the result of a tornado.

1,650 Madison Gas and Electric customers remain without power at this hour as do 510 customers of Alliant Energy in Dane County.

Crews are continuing to work to restore power.

Additional storms and possible heavy rains remain in the forecast for this evening and overnight tonight.”
